   The Will Reading

   Sarah, a recent widow, learns her great-aunt left her a lighthouse in Maine. The deed comes with a single condition: the light must turn on every night.

   She arrives at the lighthouse. It is already on. There is fresh coffee in the kitchen.

   The Letter From 1941

   Sarah finds a stack of letters in the attic. They are addressed to her — by name — and dated 1941.

   The handwriting is the same as the note pinned to the coffee pot.

   The Keeper

   She sees him for the first time during a storm. Young, in a wool sweater, lighting the lamp by hand. He sees her too.

   He says: 'You're late by eighty-four years.'

   The Town Knows

   Sarah asks the old fisherman at the marina. He laughs. 'Caleb's been waiting. Aunt Lily told him you'd come.'

   He hands her a black-and-white photo of Caleb. With Sarah's exact face beside him.

   The Photograph

   The 1941 photograph IS her. A version of her she has never been. Caleb's arm around her shoulder. Both smiling.

   Caleb tells her: 'You wrote me a letter saying you'd come back. I've been waiting to receive it.'

   The Storm of '41

   Caleb tells Sarah how he died — saving a fishing boat in a storm. The girl in the photo never made it to him.

   Sarah finds the unsent letter in her great-aunt's handwriting. It was from her.

   Sarah climbs to the lamp room. Caleb is fading. The lighthouse is decommissioned tomorrow — and he goes with it.

   She holds the lamp on with her own hand. 'Stay one more night.'

   Morning. The lighthouse is dark. The wool sweater is folded on the bed. Sarah stands at the cliff's edge holding the photograph.

   On the back of the photo, in fresh ink: 'I'll wait at the next light. Caleb.'
